“O CARVOEIRO” : Illustration for a short story.

I would like to be able to update this site more often but because most of my work needs to stay confidential for contract reasons sometimes it´s hard to come by with new illustrations to show. This has been a really busy year for me but most of the pics I did in 2017 I still cannot display them here. Nevertheless here´s some images for a short story I did a few months ago which will now be a part of a book to be published here in Portugal next year.
These images illustrate a legend about the origin of the coast town of “Carvoeiro” (“Coal Miner”) here in the south of Portugal located in the western side of the Algarve region. As our past is extremely connected to the Arab presence several centuries ago, this story is no exception.

This loose sketch rough style is something that I do not create often so this was actualy fun to do and I decided to leave all the imperfections on it also so the images could feel as spontaneous as they were created.
All illustrations were sketched on the Ipad using the Procreate app and then colored on my IMac using Photoshop.
