“FORBIDDEN WORLD” : RETRO SCI-FI Illustration
Here´s one I did sometime ago just for fun which turned out to be licenced for prints and posters. I love old science fiction in the style of Forbidden Planet; ( I even have a movie blog about that ) and so stuff like rocketships from the golden age of science fiction is something that tends to pop up a lot in my artwork, particularly when I´m doing it to have fun. The idea behind this one was to somehow create like a movie poster-banner for an old sci-fi film but with somehow a modern look.
One of the things I love is to work with matte-painting although I rarely have time to do that in between my other children´s books illustration commissions but now an then I get my hands on my favorite topics and just go for it.
Unfortunelly my old hard drive crashed real bad a couple years ago and I lost the original files for this one so now I only have this low res to showcase here; although I still have this image on sale in one of my online print pod galleries if you happen to like this one. 😉
I plan to create more images with this technique later when I get to find the time to do it in between my regular illustration commissions. If you like matte-paintings click here to take a look at another one I did recently.
