“FIRST MEN IN THE MOON” : Concept Art / Illustration
Here´s another pic I just did for fun. Many times I spend so many months just illustrating “regular” children books within that traditional cartoon style that I end up missing working more on the concept art side of things and so I tend to get this urges to create some portfolio pieces for myself. This is another one of those.
I had this image sketched for years on my -“to do”- folder and many times I tried to come up with a visual solution for the original sketch that I liked but never got to find the right way to do a final illustration from that initial doodle. This Egypt statue came to my mind when I was watchin “Ancient Aliens” last night and I thought, why not ?…
Despite the initial concept here being based on one of my favorite H.G.Wells books and movie from the 60s of the same name “FIRST MEN IN THE MOON“ I knew I just didn´t wanted to do a straighforward illustration out of that as it´s been done before by many illustrators and concept artists. I wanted to show something odd along with it and so I think now this “final” version turned out fine, even if I end up creating a revision for it sometime in the future.
So here´s my “FIRST MEN IN THE MOON” portfolio piece.
